Frequently Asked Questions
-
How does IPL work to remove hair on my body?IPL is a more advanced form of laser hair removal. It is a safe, clinically proven, permanent reduction of dark hair almost anywhere on the face and body. The light emitted is absorbed by the pigment in the hair and converted to heat, permanently destroying the hair follicle. It is a great long-term solution to other methods of hair removal such as waxing. We most commonly treat the face, bikini line, legs and underarms. For men, permanent hair reduction on the chest and back are an ideal way to keep you well-groomed all year round.
-
How does IPL work for Photo-Rejuvenation?IPL emits bursts of intense pulsed light which is often referred to as laser, the system filters the light to ensure the wavelengths are absorbed by haemoglobin in the fine blood vessels and melanin in pigmented age spots. Initially after an IPL session you may notice that the pigmented areas treated look a little darker for a few days following treatment, then you will find that your skin looks smoother and fresher as the age spots begin to disappear, you will also notice an improvement in skin texture.
-
How much does IPL cost?Small areas such as the nose or cheeks start at $65, a full face IPL Skin Rejuvenation treatment is $199, IPL results are best seen with a course of at least three treatments, courses are available at a discount compared to three individual treatments. Specific skin concerns or other treatment areas are POA. For IPL Hair Reduction, pricing varies greatly depending on the size of the treatment area – we are able to give you quotes when you enquire.
-
Will IPL suit my skin type? Our IPL machine works on all skin types, it has pre-programmed settings for different skins and it delivers the correct energy output for different complexions, we determine your individual skin type at a consultation held prior to having your first IPL treatment. IPL is not suitable for extremely fair hair or white/grey hair, we recommend electrolysis for these clients. IPL is not suitable for clients who tan their skin during the summer months.
-
What happens during the session and how will it feel?IPL is a fast, safe method of long-term hair reduction that is completely safe, however it is important to avoid tanning of any kind before and after the treatment for a period of 30 days, we recommend using a minimum SPF 30 on the treated area. The treatment can feel warm and similar to a light rubber band flicking the skin, no numbing or pain relief is required and most clients describe the treatment as pain free.
-
How many IPL treatments do I need? The number of treatments for hair reduction varies for each client but typically around 8 treatments 4-6 weeks apart. An initial consultation is required so we can explain the treatment and answer any questions. The cost of the consultation is redeemable on IPL treatments.
